The studio
Big trouble starts in small places.
Local Trouble is an independent game studio making multiplayer games for groups of friends.
What we make
We make multiplayer games for groups of friends. They’re easy to learn, a round is short enough to play several in one night, and no two rounds go quite the same way.
Our first projects are online co-op games. We may branch into other genres later, but playing with other people will stay at the center of what we do.
How we work
We start from ordinary places. When the setting is somewhere everyone knows, players understand the rules before anyone explains them.
We let systems collide. We combine simple mechanics and leave room for results we didn’t plan. When a playtest produces something better than our design, we keep it.
We design for the group. If a moment is fun to watch and talk about afterwards, we build on it. Features that only matter to a solo player come last.
We keep things readable. A match can get messy, but players should always be able to tell what happened and why.
Why independent
Being independent means we decide what to make and when it’s ready. It also lets us put early versions in front of players and change direction when something isn’t working.
